JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead IT Applications Architect (Commerce) is responsible for providing transformational leadership and expertise in Commerce by adopting and using technology to meet the desired business vision. The primary objectives of this position are architecting and designing new business solutions that dramatically move the business forward by supporting the strategic direction of the company, defining, and enforcing architecture standards including procedures and policies, and leading a sub-team of applications analysts and architects.

This individual will lead a group of Commerce Application Analysts in supporting and enhancing Mason’s Commerce environment including nine commerce sites, customer contact center applications, product master data management, and order management systems.

This position will be at the center of helping Mason evaluate, determine, and implement our new commerce and contact center technology stack. This is your chance to be an instrumental resource to helping a top-150 US retailer modernize and expand its already extensive commerce capabilities!

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of application analysts and architects that research, architect and design major business functions and new technology implementations.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate the applications roadmap to align with business needs.
  • Manage and develop enterprise architecture.
  • Establish working relationships with functional departments, IT peers, and key stakeholders to ensure proper implementation of business improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and enhance existing vendor and key partner relationships.
  • Support new vendor selection and analysis based on fit within the enterprise architecture.
  • Apply full life-cycle methodologies to projects and change control.
  • Create, modify, and ensure the completion of required documentation using company and department standards.
  • Apply technical and analytical skills to determine application system setup, configuration, and enhancement requirements meet business needs.
  • Define and enforce enterprise architecture standards, procedures, documentation, and policies.
  • Perform on-call application support as necessary.
  • Assist the Director of Enterprise Applications in implementing department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Cultivate a culture of teamwork, empowerment, professional development, and continuous improvement with a goal-oriented mindset toward driving projects to completion.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work of the applications sub-team.
  • Provide feedback, implement corrective action, and conduct performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Participate in applicant interviews, the selection process, and other employment related decisions.
  • Provide staff orientation, mentoring, training, coaching, and on-the-job support.
  • Provide operational and application support as required.
  • Provide technical project management as needed.

  • Extensive experience in configurations and module upgrades for applications in a complex environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • 5-7 years’ experience as an IT Business Analyst, IT Applications Analysts, IT Architect, or a related field is required.
  • Experience with e-commerce concepts such as personalization, shopping carts, customer service, order management, subscription management, payment gateways and methods, content creation and management; digital asset management, and general search concepts such as guided search, search interfaces, and relevancy ranking is required.
  • Knowledge of emerging eCommerce architecture, technologies, and MACH principles.
  • Demonstrated roles in setting eCommerce strategy, implementation, and operations.
  • Cross-channel customer engagement strategy, design, and development to include the creation of omni-channel digital experiences across web, mobile, social, physical, contact center, customer relationship management, integrated telephony and call routing, integrated voice response, and chat.
  • Experience with Order Management Systems.
  • Familiar with both traditional waterfall and agile development methodologies as well as familiarity with work management tools (preferably Jira).
  • Experienced in DevOps concepts and tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Bitbucket, Jenkins).
  • Experience working with front-end technologies such as jQuery, ReactJS, Angular JS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript & Ajax.
  • Deep experience working with REST, SOAP, and GraphQL APIs, and solid understanding of microservices-based architecture patterns.
  • Considerable experience with leading Commerce platforms (commercetools, Salesforce, Adobe, BigCommerce, Optimizely, Oracle ATG, etc.).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary, in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and machines. May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities.
