The Land Payment Analyst for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Land Data Management department at the company’s Houston, TX office reporting to the Land Payment Supervisor.
This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
Part of APA’s Land Payments team responsible for facilitating compliance with US Land payment obligations;
Process lease payments and invoices for rentals, extensions, and other payment obligations;
Review and confirm amounts, eCalendar approvals, payment coding, and required supporting documentation;
Research minimum royalty obligations and process payments, as necessary;
Assist in the monitoring of potential shut-in payments due to well downtime and/or lack of production. Prepare property to lease reports and distribute to appropriate Land Analysts and LDM Management. Process shut-in payments once approved;
Generate monthly YoY Payment comparison report for Land Analysts review;
Research, code and submit third-party invoices to Manager for approval in accordance with LDM/Accounting guidelines. Coordinate changes in Quorum with Land Analysts;
Coordinate distribution of Quorum generated checks;
Track and research outstanding and returned payment checks. Assist in the payment escheat process, as necessary. Send uncashed check notices, address verification, and due diligence correspondence. Facilitate the voiding of checks as needed;
Research and respond to payee inquiries including ONRR FIN Bills and Demand for Payment Notices;
Assist with year-end 1099 reporting for Quorum generated payments;
Research payment related system issues and consult with Land Applications team and/or IT to resolve; and,
Assist with testing system updates and new releases. Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred;
Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Introductory knowledge of Oil & Gas Leases and Surface Agreements; and,
Willingness and desire to learn the upstream Land business and adapt to changing business needs. Competencies
