Job Summary/Qualifications:

The City of Caldwell has an opening for an Land Development Inspector I in the Engineering Department. Individual assists in the performance of field surveys, building permits, right-of-way permits and inspections of public water, sewer, pressure irrigation, storm water, roadways, street lighting, etc. for residential, commercial and industrial development under the direction of the City Engineer; performs related work as required. Individual must have competency in Microsoft Word and Excel, written communications and technical writing. Must possess a high level of organizational skills, good interpersonal skills and have the ability to effectively communicate with other City employees, contractors, developers, engineers and the general public. Possession of a current and valid driver’s license is required. Subject to a pre-employment drug test and background check.

OR

The City of Caldwell has an opening for an Land Development Inspector II in the Engineering Department. Individual performs basic engineering department reviews of subdivision and commercial building permit plans. Assists in the development of engineering plans, designs, and specifications for the city’s engineering department; perform related work as required. Individual must have competency in Microsoft Word and Excel, written communications and technical writing. Must possess a high level of organizational skills, good interpersonal skills and have the ability to effectively communicate with other City employees, contractors, developers, engineers and the general public. Possession of a current and valid driver’s license is required. Subject to a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Acceptable Experience and Training:

Land Development Inspector I: High School diploma or GED, supplemented by course work in civil engineering, construction or related field; or Any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Land Development Inspector II: High School diploma or GED and extensive field and office experience in public works projects; and minimum of two-years experience in surveying, drafting, and inspection of a civil engineering nature; or Any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Rate of Pay:

Land Development Inspector I: $19.12-$21.48

Land Development Inspector II: $20.26-$22.97
