Position: Meals on Wheels Thrift Store Driver

Reports to: Store Manager

SUMMARY: Pick up and unload donated items to the Meals on Wheels Thrift Store. Deliver merchandise that has been purchased by customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Schedule pickups and delivery of merchandise.

• Arrange for pickup and delivery of donated items for the Meals on Wheels Thrift Store. Items can include furniture, clothing and other donated items.
• Load and unload furniture and other donated items from delivery truck to thrift shop.
• Load and unload purchased merchandise at the customer’s residence.
• Attend required meetings.
• Assists in accepting, cleaning, and testing donations at the store. Arranges displays of merchandise on sales floor.
• Some janitorial, such as vacuuming, sweeping, and cleaning store fixtures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience Required

Any combination of education and experience, which will provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to effectively perform the duties of the position.

• Communicate effectively with vendors, staff and the public.
• Work under deadlines and time constraints.
• Work independently to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Ability to use GPS.
• Ability to drive delivery truck to load and unload donated items to the thrift store.
• Communicate effectively with individuals, with ability to relate to strangers.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn emergency response guidelines.
• Ability to work well as a team member.
• Valid California Driver’s License and auto insurance.
• Clean DMV record.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
