Laboratory Technician Job at Dana Incorporated

Job Duties and Responsibilities
This is for an alternative shift - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:00am to 12:30pm
Set-up and operate various bench and bedplate testing for driveline components and assemblies including, but not limited to:
- Traditional axles and components
- Electric axles and components
- Driveshafts and components
- Work with both requesting and test engineers to ensure correct fixturing, set-up, operation, and acquisition of data for test requests.
- Assembly and disassembly of both axles and driveshafts.
- Record and collect test data from pre and post component/assembly inspection.
- Perform routine maintenance of equipment as necessary.
- Visually inspect parts and samples to standards, repair units and products that fail to meet requirements.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues encountered during set-up and operation of test requests.
- Operation of both sit-down and stand-up fork trucks
- Support total quality management objectives in a team environment.
- Actively participate in DOS (Dana Operating System) productivity improvement and Test Lab 5S activities
- Adhere to all Safety guidelines, Operating procedures, and Work instructions related to this position.
- Perform and assist with calibration and preventive maintenance of test equipment
Qualifications Required:
- Background in automotive and component level testing – preferred
- Background in test cycle programming preferred: Dynamometer, thermal cycle, etc.
- Experience with electromechanical systems preferred: including a solid understanding of electric motors and sensor fundamentals
- Experience with assembly and disassembly of various mechanical equipment preferred.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- Must be self-motivated and capable of performing duties with limited supervision.
- Proficiency with both computers and Microsoft Office.
- Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-shifts as required
- Must have good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be reliable and maintain a good attendance record
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs. repetitively and stand for approximately 90% of the time
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
