Laboratory Accessioner Job at Garden OB-GYN
We are seeking a Laboratory Accessioner to join our team! You will be responsible for performing medical tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
Responsibilities:
- Work EMR Systems
- Collect and organize blood, tissue, and other bodily fluid samples from patients
- Prepare samples for routine testing and analysis
- Properly record results for further analysis and easy reference
- Monitor inventory samples and supplies
- Maintain a clean work environment
- Work under the supervision of a medical technologist
- Daily receipt and accessioning and storage of human specimens.
- Ensure proper collection and labeling requirements of specimens.
- Direct specimens to appropriate lab for testing.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and laboratory areas.
- Proper disposal of contaminated materials.
- Administrative duties include filing, faxing and answering phones.
- Work collaboratively with all members of the clinical care team and demonstrate respect for all colleagues.
- Expand knowledge by participating in company and office educational and quality initiatives.
- Must possess emotional maturity and stability to approach highly stressful situations in a calm and rational matter.
- Use critical thinking to make sound clinical decisions.
- Adhere to ethical standards of conduct as well as applicable state and federal laws.
- Provide effective oral or written nonverbal communication with patients and their families, colleagues, and health care providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a clinical technician or in other related fields
- Familiarity with common medical terminology
- Experience in a laboratory setting
- Strong organizational skills
