General Laborer Foreman Directs Labor Craft Journeyman and Craft Helpers performing tasks such as erecting, wrecking, repairing, maintenance and janitorial functions. This includes the use of heavy handheld power tools for a variety of civil tasks.
Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to supervise:
- Operate, read, and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices in confined and/or hazardous environments.
- Assisting build and positioning forms for pouring concrete, and dismantle forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards, while following all waste handling guidelines. Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
- Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps and other temporary structures.
- Act as a watch when welding or metal cutting is performed by craft workers. Expedites materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work sites.
- Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various janitorial activities. Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixers: and mix, pour, and spread concrete. Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. Insure work areas are properly maintained and safe and public protection measures are in place.
- Individual in this position is responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the erection of structures and buildings. Unloads and loads materials, tends machines, mixes concrete, pours concrete, and assists carpenters, equipment operators, and other construction site workers.
- May work as a rigger, concrete crewman, demolition laborer; including salvaging all material, loading, cleaning up, wrecking, flagman, guardrail/ fence erector and installer, including installation and erection of fence, medial rails, reference posts, guideposts and right-of-way markers, form strippers, general laborers, riprap man, scale man, stake jumper, structure mover, includes foundation, separation, preparation, cribbing, shoring, jacking and unloading of structures, truck loader, water attendant, or other tasks assigned by the foreman.
