We are hiring for Full-time and Call-in.

Primary Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Laboratory, performs semi-skilled duties to assist the technologist and other professional staff in the laboratory. Operates laboratory equipment necessary to process clinical specimens or to perform EKGs. Considers age related and special needs in the delivery of patient care.

Essential Duties

  • Performs phlebotomy and EKGs in a competent manner.
  • Processes specimens and laboratory requisitions.

Other Duties

  • Performs clerical duties.
  • Complies with hospital and departmental work rules and policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Employment is subject to being completely vaccinated or having a WGH approved COVID-19 Vaccine Exemption prior to providing services for the facility.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Good communication and the ability to write legibly and read and understand the English language sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and responsively with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, physicians, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to plan and provide care appropriate to the age and special needs of the patient being served.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

  • At least six (6) months previous phlebotomy experience.

Enhanced Qualifications:

  • Certified Phlebotomist.
  • Previous pathology experience.
  • Previous EKG experience.

Working Conditions

  • Air conditioned, well lighted environment.
  • Exposure to infectious and contagious diseases; blood borne pathogens.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May work beyond normal working hours.
  • Interacts with other departments and personnel and outside contacts.

  • General office equipment; laboratory equipment

Mental and Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift/carry or push/pull up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Position involves reaching, sitting, standing and walking.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Experience:

  • Phlebotomy: 1 year (Preferred)
