*Pinnacle Charter School Kitchen Lead

*
*Description:
**The Kitchen Lead effectively supports the Nutrition Services Director and team in providing high-quality, fresh, nutritious, tasty food for students to support a productive and positive learning environment. The Lead cooks, manages records, supports paperwork and ordering, and oversees the daily operations of the kitchen. This position maintains positive interpersonal relationships with students and staff while providing a positive learning and work environment.

*Reporting Relationships:
**Reports to: Nutrition Services Director
**Direct Reports: This is a non-supervisory position.

*Compensation:
**This is a full-time, 10-month position. Compensation is $18.00 - $25.14/per hour depending on experience. See a detailed outline of benefits and additional compensation at the bottom of the job description.

*Essential Functions:
**
** Open the kitchen for the day including, turning on lights; opening appropriate doors; turning on appliances; gathering dish, rinse and sanitizer water*
** Provide direction, instruction and support to team as needed*
** Look at menu and pull recipes needed for that day*
** Look at production records and prepare what is planned for the day, ensuring any last-minute changes have been updated and made*
** Fill out the appropriate temperature sheets required*
** Take all beginning and ending temperatures on all products*
** Place all items on serving line for serving and maintain awareness of anything that may need to be replenished*
** Complete all cooking and baking that is required for the day*
** Pull lunch production records and continue with preparing lunch and taking temperatures as needed*
** When lunch is complete, take any temperatures of left over items excluding deli bar items*
** Take a count of left overs and waste*
** Take milk count; complete daily production records; and submit records by deadline established by Nutrition Services Director*
** Look at next-day menu and prep for the following day as needed*
** Support clean up*
** Make sure all appliances and lights are off and all doors are locked at close of day*
** At all times maintain a sanitized work area, working efficiently with productivity*
** Provide back-up on deposits*
** Practice safety precaution measures in all phases of food service operations*
** Maintain quality and attractiveness with all meals*
** Maintain accurate and legible production records*
** Take inventory at the appropriately scheduled times and submit food orders with Nutrition Director approval*
** Communicate with supervisor regularly*
** Be present and engage in Pinnacle functions and organizations to build strong relationships with students, parents, peers, and the community.*
** Maintain and deepen current educational learning on an ongoing basis.*
** Demonstrate regular and timely attendance.*
** Perform other duties as assigned.*

**General Abilities, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Skills:
**
** Experience working in food service.*
** School food service experience preferred.*
** Knowledge of National School Lunch Program requirements preferred.*
** Experience using an electronic cash register, or point-of-sale (POS) system.*
** Proficient in basic math and cash-handling skills.*
** Knowledge of food safety requirements (state or local Health Department requirements).*
** ServSafe or other equivalent food safety certification preferred but not required.*
** Ability to collaborate and communicate while appreciating the diverse background of students, parents, peers, and the community.*
** Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.*

**Working Conditions:
**Exposure/Noise Level:* Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and kitchen conditions. Normal school environment with moderate to high noise level.*
**Mental Functions:* Analyze, collaboration, communicate, compare, compilation of data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, instruct, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.*
**Physical Activities:* Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students and peers.*
**Weight and Force Demands:* Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 30 pounds).*
