Job Title:Organist/pianist

Job Summary:
Far Group is currently seeking for a Keyboardist for Protestant worship and Roman
Catholic mass conducted by the Pastoral Care Department, Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth,
Virginia

Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, 620 John Paul Jones Cir, Portsmouth, VA 23708

Qualifications:

• The candidate shall possess requisite skills in performance and improvisation.
• Service playing, conducting, arranging, and composing commensurate with specific duties inherent to position.
• Proficiency in keyboard skills and/or Bachelor’s degree in Music with emphasis in performance and accompaniment and/or American Guild of Organists certification in service accompaniment.
• Experience with planning and performing Catholic liturgy and Protestant worship.
• Must be knowledgeable in the liturgy and worship traditions of both Protestant and

Roman Catholic churches.

• Familiarity with the variety of sacred music genres as appropriate for cross-generational and cross-denominational programs or worship.
• The appropriate administrative and interpersonal skills to perform their required duties.
• The candidate will provide professional services in music ministry as the Accompanist/

Keyboardist for Protestant worship and Roman Catholic mass conducted by the Pastoral CareDepartment, Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia as requested/needed.

• The candidate may be asked to select appropriate hymns and service music appropriate for the seasonal requirements of the sacred liturgy in both Catholic and Protestant traditions.
• The candidate will prepare and submit timely requests for needed resources and materials to the command chaplain.

Work Schedule
The candidate shall provide 122 total units of service that may include:

• Regular services as follows: Sunday services, 1 Protestant and 1 Catholic: 104 units.
• Rehearsal for Protestant choir as follows: ½ unit following Sunday services 52 ½ units: 26 units
• Holy Days and special services as follows: 12 units.
