As the
Global Hair Care R&D Junior Formulation Scientist, you will deliver gorgeous hair by working and developing new and innovative hair care products and formulations to deliver unique, salon-style luxury performance to our customers.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute projects for Beauty care (skin cleansing, hair care, skin care) applications under the direction of a Senior Research Scientist and/or manager.
- Focus on projects to utilize new polymers, surfactants, rheology modifiers, and other actives materials to develop new Beauty care (skin cleansing, hair care, skin care) product applications, including product prototype formulations and consumer testing.
- Conduct competitive benchmark studies, and provide results and recommendations to the formulation development team
- Perform product testing using experimental design and protocol, collection of data and interpretation, and reporting of data
- Support customer evaluations of Lubrizol products for applications
- Implement short and medium-term development projects for applications
- Maintain records of experiments, results and conclusions.
- Identify new opportunities, based on Lubrizol’s technologies, and conduct appropriate feasibility plans
- Up to 10% domestic travel.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field from an accredited college/university
- 3-5 years of Beauty (skin cleansing, hair care, skin care) formulations and testing experience.
- Testing of new ingredients for hair care formulation applications.
- Demonstrated use of Design of Experiments
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support existing customer products and commercialization of new products
- Ability to work safely within Lubrizol's laboratories and customer facilities
- Ability to plan and organize multiple assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to work well individually and in team settings
- Solid record keeping skills
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office.
- Knowledge of biodegradability and formulating in the natural ingredient space a plus.
