We are looking for a Junior Quality Assurance specialist to join our team. The Quality Assurance Lead will fill a leadership role on existing and new projects. The position requires a self-starter who can lead the QA process, choose the appropriate technologies, define procedures and work with minimal oversight.

The Quality Assurance Specialist will work on a variety of projects, using a diverse set of tools, focused on open source and cloud-based development. The Quality Assurance Specialist provides opportunities for future growth in a QA/QC role, software development, and/or business analysis capacity.

Our Software business line is a leading provider of transportation software solutions, combining outstanding domain knowledge with superb software engineering skills. We take pride in our suite of tools and applications, which impact millions of travelers and bring substantial operational benefits to our clients. Our offerings include off-the-shelf products and customized solutions for a wide variety of transportation applications, including real-time customer information systems, mobility and trip planning tools, permitting and safety systems and transportation planning and modeling tools.

Essential Functions

Requirements Definition: 20%

  • Work with the product and development teams to define, document and validate requirements and assumptions
  • Work to understand a client’s business/the problem domain and ask questions to flesh out requirements and find edge cases; integrate findings into test plans
  • Become an internal expert on our client’s needs such that you can answer how something should work, or help drive requirements for new platform features

QA Planning: 30%

  • Review project requirement documents and test plans and determine the best way to ensure a quality deliverable
  • Be a part of the development team and work closely with the tech lead and project manager to discuss requirements and meet project schedules
  • Setup and maintain any test platforms (e.g. Jenkins, Jira, etc.) according to best practices and company standards
  • Write high-level test plans and test scripts based on requirements
  • Develop test automation
  • Meet with Technical lead to determine testing tools and technologies
  • Coordinate with development team and IT to plan test platforms
  • Setup and maintain Wiki and Jira space

QA Execution 50%

  • Develop test automation
  • Run test scripts
  • Record and track bugs
  • Provide ongoing feedback on requirements and schedules
  • Write test plans and test scripts

Requirements

  • Experience doing QA in a client-services/consulting environment, SaaS products
  • Demonstrated experience with automated testing work in a client-services business
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3 years of experience
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Highly detail oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
