ScalpTrade Junior Trader

ScalpTrade is looking for recent graduates to join our rapidly growing trading team in Chicago. We are hiring smart, competitive, and highly analytical individuals. The ideal candidate would have strong accomplishments in areas outside of trading, yet come in with an open mind and a passion for financial markets. We’re looking for someone who not only has great ideas, but can execute and turn those ideas into tangible results.

What you’ll do at ScalpTrade

As a junior trader at ScalpTrade, your career here will begin with a 6 to 8 week training program where you will learn all of the fundamentals of options theory in the classroom while getting live trading experience on the desk. Once your training is completed you will join the automated trading team and participate in all aspects of the firm’s algorithmic trading strategies. You will work with our team of traders and engineers to improve and optimize current strategies while leveraging your knowledge in the development of new strategies. From the very beginning your input and decisions will positively impact the firm’s strategies and direction. As you grow into the position, your achievements will present the opportunity for more responsibility and success in your career at ScalpTrade.

What qualities are we looking for?

• Final year students seeking full time employment upon graduation (minimum of a Bachelor’s)
• Degree in mathematics, engineering, statistics, economics, finance or other relevant field is preferred
• Experience in strategic games/competitive activities or high level of skill in other pursuits
• Demonstrated interest in trading and/or equity markets
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and logical reasoning skills
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to solve complex problems
• Experience with programming or scripting in Python is highly desirable
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment
• Desire to constantly grow and improve one’s knowledge and abilities
