The Junior Accountant program is a one-of-a-kind, intensive training program and is not offered anywhere else in the industry. If hired for this position, you will be on a fast-track to expedite your carrier trajectory. You will set goals for the program experience to gain the necessary skills to become a Production Accounting Control and Lead Production Accountant. You will be immersed in experiential learning as you have the opportunity to work directly on shows, attend training seminars while spending time working with one of two industry payroll services. Your participation in this program will give you exposure to the entertainment industry as well as an introduction into production accounting as you progress along the pathway to becoming strong production accounting and finance professionals.

Responsibilities:

Participate in an 18-month rotational program gaining exposure to learn about a niche production accounting career at an accelerated pace through learning experiences that include:

  • Payroll

    • Union Payroll, Extras Payroll, Above the Line

      • Gathering and examining timesheets to ensure their validity.

      • Entering start and end times onto the payroll software.

      • Capturing approved annual and sick leave.

      • Ensuring that compensation for overtime work is calculated at the appropriate rate

      • Confirming that legally mandated and optional deductions have been processed correctly.

      • Preparing and distributing hard copy or electronic paychecks.

      • Performing all tasks well before the pay run to ensure that staff members are compensated and notified on time.

      • Addressing queries about payroll-related issues.

      • Working to resolve discrepancies in payments as a matter of urgency.

  • Accounts Payable

    • Input and process purchase orders

    • Input and process invoices

    • Audit and process petty cash envelopes

    • Audit and Process P Cards

  • Records management

  • Production

    • Assist on Set and In Production Offices as needed

  • Estimating and Budgeting

  • Audit, Revenue and Tax Incentives

  • Misc. duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate a combination of academic aptitude, quantitative skills, personal motivation, and advanced written and oral communication skills. We are specifically looking for individuals who have the following background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with Accounting, Finance and ready to begin full-time by the program start date.

  • Must be prepared to work in a fast past environment and the ability to absorb and understand operational processes and mechanics.

  • The optimum candidate must be a self-starter and understand the importance of deadlines and collaboration.

  • Desire to work in entertainment and dedication to build a career in Production Accounting/Production Finance.
