Position Summary: Holy Name Medical Center is seeking an IT Applications Analyst to provide support to Radiology and Medical Imaging Systems across the organization. The IT Applications Analyst is responsible for the design, implementation, validation, and support of multiple Radiology applications (RIS, Intellispace PACS, Voice Recognition, Advanced Post Processing, and related ancillary systems).

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare, or related field required

Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years demonstrated experience in applications analysis, implementation management and supporting systems in a hospital setting. Experience and knowledge of PACS, Voice Recognition system (MModal or Powerscribe), DICOM, HL7, Active Directory (AD), Networking and remote support. CIIP designations preferred.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide application support for radiology systems including, but not limited to, PACS, RIS and Voice recognition
  • Work directly with Radiologists to ensure optimal performance of Radiologist workstations, third party applications, and all IT related equipment that is required for Radiologist interpretation of imaging studies
  • Oversee, coordinate, and participate in implementations and upgrades of new and existing Radiology Systems and applications
  • Coordinate with IT Technical Support Center and Desktop support staff for issue escalation and physical support activities
  • Collaborate with vendors, IT teams, and Biomedical Engineering for new modality installs, testing and connectivity to the PACS
  • Coordinate with vendors, IT teams, Biomedical Engineering to provide network and modality support
  • Support PACS/RIS interfaces with other clinical systems and affiliate institutions (i.e. Magview, Teleradiology)
  • Work with Radiologists, technologists, and other stakeholders to design PACS and IT workflows that provide optimum patient care while maximizing productivity
  • Support and maintain the diagnostic reading workstations used by Radiologists
  • Address system performance issues in an urgent manner and communicate updates and resolution to all parties involved
  • Monitors system activities, resources and performance. Reboots interfaces and examines error logs
  • Coordinate and conduct PACS/RIS training for physicians and staff
  • Track and communicate application/system enhancement requests and issues to the appropriate IT team and/or vendor support team
  • Provide rotating on-call coverageafter hours and on weekends

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the planning, implementation and support of PACS/RIS related projects
  • In the absence of the IT Project Manager, functions as a project manager for project implementations
  • Provide support in the evaluation and selection of alternatives for integration with the Hospital RIS/PACS systems
  • Support the creation and execution of a regular QC program for diagnostic workstations
  • Support the day-to-day operation of all current Radiology Information System, Clinical Information Systems and Other Medical Imaging Applications, including but not limited to the picture archiving and communication system (PACS), the radiology information system (RIS), PowerScribe (voicerecognition), and other advanced processing imaging applications
  • Support in the installation of new DICOM modality connections by analyzing HL7 interface messages to validate data flow
  • Help implement best practices and standards in radiology and imaging processes
  • Provide technical and administrative support of the Mammography Reporting System
  • Prepare reports on quality measures, performance metrics, or other department goals and objectives when requested
  • Participate in application upgrades, patch installations and infrastructure change that impact Radiology and Imaging system, including conducting regression testing, working with end users on newly added (or modified) functionality and supporting the move to production
  • Support the clinical systems and workflows to ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy, security and confidentiality requirements
  • Coordinate with IT Network/System Administrators to ensure appropriate application access rights are assigned and maintained
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of PACS/RIS integration architecture to recommend enhancements to system maintenance, user support process and training programs
  • Maintain fundamental analytical skills in the use of Crystal Report writer and SQL query language
  • Maintains fundamental knowledge of HealthCare integration standards, such as HL7, DICOM, XML, and HTML
  • Develop and maintain fundamental knowledge of clinical applications user functionality, whether implemented or not
  • Develop and maintain fundamental knowledge, at a server or back-end level, of Clinical application functionality
  • Develop and maintain fundamental knowledge, from a user perspective, of clinical applications workflow
