What we are looking for:

We currently have an open position for an IT Director, working out of our Lake Barrington, IL 60010 office. This is a staff management and client-facing, office-based position. The principal role is to manage the (10) field engineers, daily support operations, provide planning, budgeting, and strategic direction to our clients and engineering personnel in relation to information technology and systems. This position focuses primarily on the business relationship with the client and leveraging technical resources to improve their operational efficiencies. Client stability, satisfaction, contract renewals, and uncovering additional sales opportunities fall under the realm of the IT Director role. Overall, our goal is to Make IT Simple! For our clients.

Responsibilities:

Provides IT leadership, mentorship, and planning for a diverse group of clients as well as being the internal champion for each client within ExcalTech through the following:

  • Oversees internal support and engineering resources to ensure successful delivery of services to clients
  • Plays a critical role in driving and improving the client satisfaction while providing solutions in a timely manner.
  • Provides technical guidance, counsel, and direction for all individuals on team, as needed, to resolve technical issues.
  • Conducts interviews, makes hiring recommendations, assigns work roles, and establishes learning and training opportunities alongside operational processes to ensure success of the team.
  • Conducts regular status and business review meetings for each client and engineering staff member to understand short- and long-term goals.
  • Creates, presents, and implements annual technology roadmaps, budgets, and reports.
  • Communicates potential risks related to cyber-security, network security and industry specific compliance.
  • Identifies new opportunities to use technology to streamline business processes.
  • Educates clients and engineering staff on current technology trends relevant to their specific industry.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in server hardware and network infrastructure including design and implementation.
  • 5-10 years of experience with Microsoft Operating Systems, VMWare, and Applications.
  • 3-5 years management experience
  • Preparation of IT strategic roadmaps and budgeting.
  • Previous management and leadership experience.
  • Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider or IT Consulting environment (preferred)
  • Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized, and able to prioritize issues.
  • Strong time management skills to be able to work on, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Language/Communication Ability:

  • Proven ability to present confidently to C-Suite or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with teammates, management, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Ability for night and weekend work (as an emergency escalation point)
  • Ability to mentor, grow, and expand a technical team.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands and arms for various tasks and motions; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to walk; climb stairs or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch.
  • May need to lift and/or move up to (80) pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus including spending long amounts of time in front of a computer screen.
  • In the performance of the duties of this job, the employee on occasion, is required to travel, drive a motor vehicle, and communicate using telephone and e-mail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
