Primary Purpose: Raise, place and unite girder, columns and other structural steel member to form completed structure or structure framework.

1. Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.

2. Fasten steel member to cable of hoist, using chain, cable or rope.

3. Signal worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member.

4. Guide member, using tab line (chain or rope).

5. Pull, push, or pry steel member into approximate position.

6. Force member into final position, using turnbuckle, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools.

7. Align holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed members.

8. Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of members, using plumb bob and level.

9. Bolts or welds aligned members to keep them in position.

10. Cuts and weld steel members to make alteration, using oxyacetylene welding equipment

Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend and climb.
