JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

An Intake Coordinator manages the registration process of patients or clients as they enter a health care facility for medical services. Your responsibilities as an Intake Coordinator include gathering patient records, taking medical histories, and obtaining any insurance information from the patient. Intake coordinators welcome, register, and admit patients to healthcare facilities. In the role of an intake coordinator, you will greet patients and collect personal information, medical histories, and insurance details relevant to admission for services. You will address patient inquiries and concerns. Success in this role will be demonstrated by your attention to detail and organizational abilities. You should also possess strong interpersonal skills and exemplify excellence in customer service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.

2. Maintains accurate up-to-date clinical records by regulations of Medicare and the Policy and Procedure Manual.

3. Answers incoming calls and forwards to appropriate staff or takes a message if the person is not available.

4. Inputs data into the computer for billing purposes.

5. Interviews patients and completes admissions paperwork.

6. Verify the patient's insurance coverage and benefits by doing eligibility checks.

7. Assist in scheduling appointments for consultations and other healthcare services.

8. Make appointments and schedule procedures for future medical treatments.

9. Answers phones and completes associated clerical tasks.

10. Create and maintain patient records.

11. Responsible for assisting with audits of patient information.

12. Gather information about the patient and create patient records.

13. Works closely with the office scheduler.

14. Notifies the case manager if there are any clinical questions.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

1. Excellent organizational and communication skills.

2. Strong customer service acumen.

3. Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.

4. A high school diploma or GED certificate.

5. Computer skills are a plus.

6. Clinical experience is a plus.
