The Position

We currently have an opening for an Instrumentation Technician based out of our location in Port Townsend, Washington. This role reports directly to the Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor.


About Port Townsend Paper Corporation (PTPC)

The Port Townsend Paper (“PTPC”) mill has been in continuous operation for over 90 years. We operate on a continuous basis to produce OCC and kraft pulp which is used to manufacture linerboard, kraft paper, corrugating medium and market pulp. We have built a strong and loyal customer base by developing and nurturing strategic partnership-style relationships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots process control, and instrumentation systems.
  • Documents new systems, changes, and corrective actions.
  • Repairs and performs maintenance of mill equipment and systems.
  • Contacts vendors and inquiries about instruments and control devices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrates and provides working knowledge of PLC's , drives, instrumentation, controls and NFPA 70E regulations.
  • Ability to read electrical blueprints and related technical manuals.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software and basic computer skills.

Required Experience

  • Experience within the electrical craft, industrial instrumentation, troubleshooting electrical controls, components and electrical safety practices are preferred.

Required Education

  • 2-year degree in instrumentation with a minimum of 3-years’ experience.
