Job Summary

The primary function of this position is to support and maintain the instrumentation and electrical equipment in a safe and efficient manner. They are responsible for the installation, preventive maintenance, repair, modification, and troubleshooting of refinery process control, instrumentation and electrical systems. This includes various equipment such as: transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Install, remove, calibrate, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair refinery instrumentation equipment and components

• Prepare and maintain appropriate equipment and repair documentation
• Test, program, and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers
• Test and maintain electrical and instrument safety systems
• Interpret and work from process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations

• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and testing of various systems
• Assist in training and development of other employees

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or general education development certificate (GED).
• Previous experience with electrical or instrumentation in an oil refinery, chemical process plant, electric utility or electrical distribution equipment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to negotiate in, on, and around piping at both grade level and above grade elevations
• Ability to navigate vertical ladders and spiral tank stairs to reach work areas.
• This position on occasion requires the ability to enter confined spaces through 24" diameter man ways.
• Position requires the physical ability to utilize air purifying respirators and SCBA's.
• Ability to work in all kinds of weather to include hot and cold
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics, etc.
