Ideal candidates for the position: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist. Expanded Functions (Monitoring Nitrous, Coronal Polishing, Sealants and Radiology) are required for this position.

Working days: Monday through Friday 8 am – 5 pm.

Wage: Up to $30 per hour, depending on experience, education, skills and personality.

Job summary: As a Dental Assistant Instructor, you will combine your passion for dentistry with your ability to mold and shape students with hands-on education.

Job requirements:

  • Instructors must follow Florida’s mandates as outlined by the Florida Board of Dentistry. Documentation of current immunization and health requirement within 6 months of hire date is required.
  • Experience and skills that are required in general dentistry procedures.
  • Additional training in orthodontics, endodontics, pedodontics, and oral surgery.
  • Basic computer skills such as texting, emailing, printing, scanning, troubleshooting, connecting to Wi-Fi, etc.
  • Must have an active presence on social media platforms to promote the marketing of the program and engagement of the dental community.
  • Must be willing to meet with high school career counselors and community health organizations to promote the program.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to work successfully with students, staff, and the community.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail as well as previous experience in maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.   • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to represent Florida Dental Assisting Academy and Dental Assisting Schools of America in a positive and professional manner while using tact, discretion, and courtesy.

About the program: Our intense, 30-day high-end hands-on educational program is designed to immediately address the dental assistant workforce shortage and educate students from all walks of life. Classes take place at the Palm Springs Dental. Instructors will use their chair-side experience and training to teach our students the skills they need to succeed as entry-level dental assistants.

Responsibilities: Prepare for each class by reviewing our curriculum that we provide for each instructor. Demonstrate dental skills/procedures and assist students as they practice hands-on in the clinic. Evaluate individual/group performance and make any necessary adjustments to meet student learning needs. Enforce classroom management and ensure that safety precautions are adhered to. Ability to convey curriculum and pertinent skills via lecture and hands-on demonstrations. Must set up, clean up and maintain clinical equipment needed for course instruction. Assist with course inventory, budgets, and orders. Must be able to manage, direct, and teach up to 15 students in the classroom.
