Job Summary


Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is seeking an Instructional Services Manager (Specially Funded) who will provide advanced administrative program support, program coordination, academic advising, fieldwork support, and program coordination activities for the K-12 Education program and Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education (BAEE/SPED) degree in the Education Program. This position will work closely with the Program Directors to create a cohesive program for students. The Instructional Services Manager will work collaboratively to develop and maintain partnerships with K-12 partners and school districts throughout Arizona to support the fieldwork placements and observations for practicum and student teaching experiences. This position will collect, document, analyze, and report student and program data for program audits and accreditations. This manager will demonstrate a commitment to student success, service excellence, innovation, assessment, integrity, and diversity in job duties. The role requires interpersonal skills, organization, effective communication, flexibility, and problem-solving. This is a 12-month position. To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus, with the possibility of partial remote work depending on business needs. Additional travel to local K-12 schools may be required. This role will require additional service to the department based on program needs.

Essential Functions


25% Program Management and Support

  • Collaborates with Program Directors and faculty to develop long and short-range planning of the Education Program; provides input into the tactical, strategic, and long-range planning.
  • Collaborates with faculty to prepare and administer budgets; monitors/approves expenditures; administers and oversees contracts and procurement activities.
  • Supervises and coordinates the front desk help for the teacher education program.
  • Collaborates with faculty to develop goals and objectives and ensures programs and services align with policy direction and organizational mission.
  • Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff.
  • Establishes rapport and positive relationships with students and partnerships with internal stakeholders
  • Facilitates meetings, conferences, training, and/or workshops and develops, prepares, and delivers oral and written presentations and reports

20% Records and Reports

  • Works with Program Directors and faculty to accurately collect and report data to collect, document, analyze, and report student and program data for program growth, audits and accreditations.
  • Manages enrollment and application process for students entering the education program including admission to the PVCC Teacher Preparation Program.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records required by law, state education policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Maintains highly sensitive or confidential student information
  • Prepares program reports for the Arizona Department of Education or equivalent.
  • Oversees the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of assigned district or college-wide services and programs.

15% Student Advising

  • Demonstrates a commitment to student success through service excellence, innovation, assessment, integrity, and diversity in job duties.
  • Reviews and evaluates and admits program enrollment applications and enrolls students in program courses.
  • Supervises general advisement for all EDU students in the education program, both the two year and the four-year program.
  • Communicates and advises students to ensure they are on track with meeting specific placement and graduation requirements.

35% Field Experience and Partnerships

  • Creates and maintains positive relationships with schools and school districts to assist in the placement of Education students for fieldwork (practicum and student teaching).
  • Coordinates and monitors affiliation agreements with external K-12 partners by securing needed documentation and
  • Assists in building and maintaining innovative partnerships with local K-12 school districts to meet the needs of students, program, and community.
  • Reviews and discusses program expectations, site selection needs, and preferences for their fieldwork experiences with students of the program including additional district requirements during the placement process
  • Assists with placement arrangements of the student with the cooperating school district, principal, and/or teacher
  • Confirms field placement assignment and coordinates communication between teacher candidate, mentor teacher, and fieldwork supervisor during the fieldwork experience.
  • Supports and supervises teacher candidates with fieldwork experiences to direct and monitor teaching/learning effectiveness by monitoring documentation of hours, lesson observations, guided feedback, and evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field, five years of related experience such as planning, developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating instructional services programs which includes two years of supervisory experience. A Master’s degree and three years of the above-listed experience, which includes two years of supervisory experience, may be required for some assignments.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications


1. Master’s Degree (or higher) in Education or a related field or a Master’s degree in any discipline with 18+ graduate hours in Education-related coursework in any of the following areas is within the teaching field: Masters of Arts, Masters of Education: Education – Elementary, Educational Leadership, Educational Leadership and Innovation, Educational Administration, Higher Education, Administration and Supervision, Teacher Leadership, Instructional Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Curriculum Leadership, Educational Policy, Educational Management, English as a Second Language, Teaching and Learning, Multicultural Education, Culturally Responsive Education, Educational Technology, Educational Psychology, Literacy Education-(Reading), Language Education, Music Education, Physical Education, Art Education, Theatre Education, Dance Education, Special Education, Gifted Education, World Language Education, Early Childhood Education, English Language Learning

2. Experience teaching/supporting students in a K-12 General/Special education classroom and/or supervising/coaching teachers in a K-12 General/ Special Education setting

3. Program/school administration or management experience, which includes supervisory experience in the K-16 setting

4. Experience coordinating and/or supervising teacher candidates in fieldwork placements in higher education and working with K-12 schools and districts to coordinate site-based events beyond fieldwork

5. Experience managing recruitment, enrollment, the application process, and advising students in higher education

6. Experience creating and maintaining accurate and complete records required by law, state education policy, and administrative regulation and preparing and submitting program reports

7. Experience working with diverse faculty, staff, and/or students, including people representing various cultural and educational backgrounds, ethnicities, ages, genders, disabilities, learning styles, lifestyle preferences, etc.
