Job Title: Instructional Support Assistant

Reports To: Director of Digital Learning & Instructional Design Services

Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt


The primary role of the Instructional Support Assistant is to provide specialized support and consultative services to users of the College’s Learning Management System Moodle, while promoting best practices in course design and instruction across all course modalities and student populations in interactions with members of the faculty. The Instructional Support Assistant also plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the office and providing support to colleagues with internal projects and initiatives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist office staff in the delivery of services related to Moodle requests, including answering support phone calls and emails and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff member and/or external offices, when applicable.
  • Provide specialized consultative services with Moodle troubleshooting, online activity development, and other instructional technology inquiries.
  • Collaborate and assist office staff with the planning, development, and delivery of Moodle workshops and training sessions for faculty.
  • Assist the Instructional Design team with the training of full-time and part-time faculty preparing to teach a hybrid or online course, as needed.
  • Assist the Instructional Designer in the design and delivery of student orientations and trainings, as needed.
  • Provide office support with daily administrative tasks, such as maintaining office calendars, assisting in the production of the Annual Report and other types of research reports, organizing and maintaining office’s web presence, ordering office supplies, etc.
  • Represent the office in college committees, as requested by the Director.
  • Engage in yearly professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills related to essential job duties, including but not limited to the Learning Management System, faculty and administrative support, etc.
  • Assume other relevant duties as assigned by the Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 1-2 years of experience in a related role or within a customer service-oriented office.
  • Exceptional analytical, writing, communication, and organization skills.
  • General technological fluency and skills, with an eagerness to expand instructional/educational technology skills and knowledge.
