Ready For Life Academy Instructional Assistant

Ready For Life, a nonprofit organization, is looking for a dynamic instructional assistant for our academy program at Ferris State University (RFLA@FSU). Ready For Life offers inclusive educational services and life skills training to individuals with intellectual disabilities. We work with clients to reach their goals of independence and employment while they attend the

Academy program in a college environment.

As an Instructional Assistant your Responsibilities would be: (20 hours/week)

• Assist Ready For Life Academy students in taking strides toward reaching their goals of independent living and paid employment.
• Assist the classroom instructor with daily lessons, oversight of students, training/oversight of peer partners, and modify Ferris State University (FSU) course work.
• Effectively communicate with staff, students, parents, peer partners, and FSU staff.

Qualified applicants possess:

• A passion for our mission of working with people with intellectual disabilities.
• Experience with adults with intellectual disabilities preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with adults with intellectual disabilities.
• Valid driver’s license with a maximum of three points on your driving record, access to a vehicle and current auto insurance.
• Ability to take and complete Community Mental Health training courses.

Required education:

Associates Degree is preferred

Wage: $17.00/hour

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

• Big Rapids, MI 49307: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
