We have an exceptional opportunity for an Application Specialist to join our team in the Auburn Hills, Michigan, area. We are seeking innovative problem solvers who can work with the Innovation center team to provide creative solutions. Application Specialist will give you an opportunity to conduct, organize, and test the boundaries of joint development on customer-supplied materials across a broad range of the motor vehicle industry. THE ROLE:
As an Application Specialist, you will assess the feasibility of customers’ applications for Flow Drill Fastening joining and support the results through various phases of the product lifecycle.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO:

• Conduct joining trials and strength testing on customer-supplied materials
• Planning, execution, and documentation of lab trials
• Process and system optimization in collaboration with sales, project management, and external customers
• Preparation and implementation of demonstrations for our customers (robotic or manual)
• Internal knowledge exchange within our Global Innovation Centers network
• Software validation and optimization
• Product and processes development based on test results
• Training of both internal Atlas Copco IAS colleagues and external customers
• Writing technical papers such as test reports, technical overviews
• Support Sales through technical discussions with customers
• Provide suggestions to the organization for new methods and products and improving current standards
• Cooperate with other teams to ensure smooth business operations.
• Periodic business travel to support the above activities, primarily local, but international travel may occur on occasion
• Work with minimal supervision on all the core tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned
• EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in evaluating and testing materials and/or material joining preferred
• Robot programming skills preferred
• Agile mindset, ability to identify problems, find a solution, and execute
• Ability to troubleshoot capital equipment from a mechanical and electrical perspective
• Knowledge of PC Windows-based software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Demonstrate ownership of projects
• Great communication skills
• Detail-oriented with a high standard of work.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate basic industrial power equipment

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Material Science required
