Inmate Service Instructor - Sheriff Job at Denton County, TX

The Inmate Service Instructor develops and instructs various inmate service programs to ensure inmates' constitutional rights and welfare are safeguarded in the County Jail. Develops and implements inmate programs in areas such as basic reading, adult basic education, public health, substance abuse, religious activities, classroom instruction, and other programs.
Develops and instructs various inmate services programs such as basic reading, adult basic education public health, substance abuse, religious activities, and other programs as deemed beneficial to rehabilitation of the inmate population.
Communicates with external fee agencies and/or volunteers to create ongoing inmate services programs.
Communicates with Detention Officers to facilitate safe movement of inmates, secure assignment of meeting rooms, and keep detention advised of ongoing programs.
Maintains program records and generates periodic activity reports as necessary or otherwise requested.
Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Performs other related duties as required.
Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, education, counseling or a related field and minimum three years of experience in class room training and tutoring, including individual and/or group counseling, with experience in program administration, with some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must attain certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement as a Jailer within one year of employment.
