Responsibilities
  • Successfully completed the defined job specific competencies, including competency for age specific, as appropriate.
  • Provide the first impression of the facility and pleasantly and promptly greet, receive, direct, and escort patients and visitors to areas and departments within the facility and campus. Respond to all individuals interacting with the Medical Center for services, including employees, visitors, professional associates, students and vendors with activity and contact information.
  • Begin registration process by verifying identity and researching appointment time and location.
  • Answer phone, transfer and forward calls, page personnel as directed, manage the distribution of mail, messages, deliveries and other items brought to the desk. Provide telephone assistance during emergency situations.
  • Provide assistance to patients and visitors by responding to a wide variety of questions from patients, visitors and staff.
  • Assist with patient and visitor requests for outside transportation and accommodation.
  • Demonstrate and promote effective interdepartmental communication by participation in cooperative efforts to maximize utilization of resources. Assist with orientation of new staff members including review of organization privacy and HIPPA guidelines for releasing patient directory information.
  • Maintain an efficient and organized Patient Services Desk by ensuring customer satisfaction by courteous, confidential service. Responsible for maintaining neat and orderly reception area environment.

Qualifications

Education:
High School graduate or equivalent and preferably w/ entry level college courses.

Licensure:
None

Experience:
Experience with registration systems, word processing, spreadsheet applications or Internet knowledge is preferred.

Skills:
Ability to operate phone system and assess information through computerized registration and scheduling system.

Pay Range

$11.58 - $15.48 /hour
