InAlliance, a nonprofit that provides support to adults with developmental disabilities, is looking for an experienced and motivated Independent Living Skills (ILS) Instructor to teach daily living skills to adults with developmental disabilities. This person will instruct program participants on how to complete everyday tasks at home, as well as facilitate Individual Support Plan meetings, accompany them to medical/dental/psychiatric appointments, and completing periodic reports. Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and support in essential activities such as cooking, cleaning, shopping in natural environments, meal planning, and money management.
• Teach participant how to utilize public transportation if necessary.
• Provide instruction and assistance with personal health and hygiene.
• Encourage participation in recreation activities in natural environments.
• Teach participant how to take advantage of any and all community resources to include medical, dental, and psychiatric resources.
• Teach the importance of community resources such as police emergency help, medication monitoring, and home and community safety.
• Provide any supports necessary for a participant to maintain a self-sustaining, independent living situation in the community
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• AA degree in related field preferred or two years of direct instructional experience with adults with developmental disabilities in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to physically provide for participant safety and well-being (i.e. CPR, First Aid, lifting, transferring, positioning, etc.).
• Excellent organizational and written communication skills
• Ability to make independent judgments, organize workload efficiently and maintain several assignments simultaneously
• Must submit to a criminal background check and pass a drug screen
• Must have a valid CA Driver License and a clean driving record (within InAlliance's guidelines) from the Department of Motor Vehicles
