An Incomplete Records Analyst works closely with providers, their office staff, and additionally, the Physician Compliance Supervisor. Additionally, this position requires the knowledge of deficiency tracking and physician compliance processes. Works with the electronic medical record (EMR) to analyze and identify any and all missing or incomplete physician documentation. Proficient computer skills are necessary to use many different applications.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Daily involvement with confidential medical information; important to know and follow any hospital policies, along with state and federal regulations.
  • Some filing of records such as patient charts and reports for clearer organization
  • Answering phone calls and returning emails and voice mails
  • Releasing medical record information to various requestor types, to include but not limited to other health care facilities, law enforcement, insurance companies, or the patient.
  • Prepping the paper portion of the patient’s medical record, putting it in order according to a determined format, then scanning and indexing those pages in the EMR with accuracy.
  • Analyzing the data of each patient visit for integrity, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Communicating with physicians on their compliance and completeness of reports.
  • Assist Physician Compliance Supervisor in the daily task of deficiency tracking

RHIT or RHIA preferred, but not required

Certification

None

Education

High school graduate or equivalent. Associates degree, currently enrolled in HIM program, RHIA or RHIT preferred, but not required. Successful completion of anatomy and physiology and medical terminology courses required.

Experience

Must be computer literate in Office 365 and other common applications. Knowledge of data systems as they relate to EMRs required. Experience in an acute care setting or related field, preferred.
