JOB/POSITION SUMMARY: To provide students and staff with a safe, comfortable place in which to learn, play and work. To maintain all building HVAC systems in good repair and to complete other such duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance and Facilities

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years verifiable experience in HVAC maintenance preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must provide own basic tools. Specialized tools will be provided.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES:

  • AA Degree in HVAC technology with EPA Refrigerant Certification required.

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Classified

SHIFT TYPE: Full time

HOURS PER DAY/WEEK: 8 hours daily/40 hours weekly

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, weekends as needed

SALARY: $20.49-$29.91 hourly, depending on experience

FLSA STATUS: non-exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Director of Maintenance and Facilities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all district HVAC equipment.
  • Provides recommendations to the Director of Maintenance and Facilities about HVAC repairs that should be completed by outside service companies.
  • Completes all HVAC maintenance and repairs throughout the district.
  • Assist in the creation of district HVAC maintenance programs.
  • Completes other building and grounds maintenance tasks as assigned by the maintenance supervisor.
  • Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase and helps maintain the inventory of district tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Reports to work as needed or directed for emergency situations.
  • Reports to work as needed or directed for ice or snow removal.
  • Complete on-call duties on weekends and holidays as scheduled by the Director of Maintenance and Facilities.
  • Attend asbestos operations and maintenance classes annually, complete asbestos maintenance tasks, and assist the maintenance supervisor with asbestos inspections and monitoring of all asbestos containing building materials throughout the district.
  • Observe buildings and grounds to insure safe well-maintained conditions and advise the Director of Maintenance and Facilities of needed repairs.
  • Perform additional duties as required for short periods of time due to unusual circumstances.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires prolonged standing and considerable walking on level surfaces as well as climbing up and down stairs.
  • Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted.
  • Requires stooping, bending and reaching.
  • Requires the full range of motion with neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, back, torso, knees and ankles.
  • Must follow district guidelines regarding dress code.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  • Must work in noisy, stressful and crowded environments.
  • Must work in and around chemical odors.
