CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:

Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits.


DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:


The Adminstrative Department at CASA de Maryland, Inc. provides administrative support to all programs and departments at CASA. The Administrative Team is responsible for the overall operation of the organization including site management, information technology, and human resources.


POSITION SUMMARY:


The Human Resource Specialist will be in charge of meeting the the recruiting needs of the organization. This includes the posting of new and existing positions, screening of new candidates, onboarding, scheduling orientations, keeping employee’s records as well as assisting on other tasks related to the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with Leadership to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Prepares or updates employment records related to hiring, transferring and promoting.


  • Explains human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees.


  • Ensures new hire paperwork is completed and processed.


  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.


  • Ensures job descriptions are up to date and complaint with all local, state and federal regulations.


  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.


  • Communicates with managers and directors to identify hiring needs.


  • Informs applicants about job details, such as duties, benefits, and working conditions..


  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to recruitment; employee records; occupational health safety; talent management; recognition programs.


  • Responds to employees’ queries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.


  • Handles other special projects assigned.


  • Manages voulunteer and interns applicants process.


  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.


  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment recruitment practices.


  • Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • At minimum 3 years proven experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with ADP HRIS systems is rquired.
  • Good understanding of the full recruitment process
  • Problem-solving and solid communication abilities
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Human Resources knowledge is required
  • Valid US Driver’s License and reliable transportation

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
