What will you help us do?

As the Director - Human Resources, you will manage initiatives in the areas of, talent development, performance management, Compliance, HR Systems and Processes and related HR functions. The HR Director is a trusted advisor and resource to business leaders within the One Table Restaurant Brands family, which includes the brands Tender Greens and Tocaya. Viewed as a strategic thought partner and coach, the role of the HR Director is to help People leaders be successful in their roles, mitigate employment risk within the organization, and serves as a liaison between leaders and the People team to deliver optimal talent solutions that drive business outcomes.

Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Works closely with the VP of People & Culture, the HR team and our company leaders to execute on HR initiatives.
  • Builds trusting consultative relationships with leaders and serves as a thought partner around talent development, leadership, retention, engagement, and succession planning.
  • Develops and leads the execution and implementation of HR initiatives on a variety of topics (e.g., effective strategies for providing feedback, supervisory strategies, performance management and DEI best practices).
  • Inspires, coaches, and influences coaching in the moment culture to effectively improve the quality and frequency of developmental feedback and improve the overall team member experience.
  • Provides expertise, guidance, and coaching to restaurant leaders managing highly sensitive and complex employee relations matters, including performance management, terminations, people issues and trends, and all things People related.
  • Proactively manages legal risk; develops/enhances HR practices and policies, ensure compliance with company guidelines and governmental regulations.
  • Partners closely with leaders on investigations ensuring a thorough and objective investigation has been completed.
  • Works with external legal counsel to prepare for and/or respond to any legal action or complaints filed by outside agencies; attend mediations, arbitrations, and other court proceedings as needed.
  • Stays current on HR issues and legal compliance that could affect the company as well as provide to management recommendations on how to properly navigate these issues.
  • Gathers, interprets, and uses data to conduct analysis while addressing root cause issues related to retention, performance, process, or behaviors.
  • Understands trends and drives strategic decisions around HR Initiatives.
  • Designs and implements user-friendly processes, policies, guidelines, and documentation, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Develops and implement systems and processes to drive learning and knowledge-sharing across the organization utilizing the learning management system.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with HR team to develop solutions, programs, and policies
  • Constantly looks for ways to improve and streamline systems, technology, policies, processes and implements new HR processes to create speed, efficiency, and agility within the organization.
  • Acts as system administrator, along with other members of the team, for UKG HRIS including workflows, business processes, security, notifications, data entry and integrity, employee self-service, auditing and data quality management, and creation and maintenance of data feeds.
  • Proactively works to improve reporting (value-add, efficiency, quality, speed) and delivery processes considering all available technologies.
  • Provides oversight for HR Department technology projects and HR related projects.
  • Rolls up sleeves: From data entry to ad-hoc administrative work, you’re ready to jump in and do what it takes to support people operations and programs as needed.
  • Participates on committees and special projects and other ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Skills/Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience as an HRBP with demonstrated success in the key accountabilities for this role.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with concentration in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Experience working directly with and advising Business leaders to influence outcomes.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing employment (EEO, wage and hour, employee benefits, leave policies and practices).
  • Ability to conduct investigations, train and develop staff and maintain documentation in an organized manner.
  • Must have strong communications and operating instincts, good strategic skills, sound business judgment and the ability to achieve goals by leveraging HR expertise.
  • Must be system savvy with the ability to utilize and learn tools (Jobvite/UKG/Google software/ Smartsheet) to leverage data.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, UKG experience a plus.
  • Proactive: Goes above and beyond with service, deliverables, and communication.
  • Demonstrate integrity -be a person of the highest ethical and moral character at all times
  • High degree of Emotional Intelligence.
  • A data-minded approach, experience with quantitative and qualitative data analytics, and the ability to use data to influence and drive decision-making.
  • High level of curiosity and strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels.
