New Horizon Academy is seeking a Human Resources Assistant at our home office in Plymouth, Minnesota. This is a full-time, on-site position reporting directly to our Vice President of Human Resources.

The HR Assistant position is responsible for supporting a wide range of HR functions, including but not limited to, talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits, and employee/management communication. This position also acts as the executive assistant to the VP of HR, working closely with our operations and administrative teams, and will provide support for ongoing projects and initiatives across all NHA locations.

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, takes the initiative to improve processes, gives consistent attention to detail and is tech savvy, flexible, and team oriented. This position requires a high level of confidentiality, as well as the judgment and ability to balance assigned individual tasks with collaborative teamwork and priority requests.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides administrative support to the Vice President of Human Resources.
  • Assist with calendar management.
  • Assist with the completion of expense reports, mileage reports and review as requested.
  • Provide other executive-level administrative support – draft communication pieces, create/edit PowerPoint presentations, schedule meetings, and other miscellaneous projects as needed.
  • Manages HR team celebrations and recognitions.
  • Coordinates the weekly Home Office orientation (including email communications, room setup, attendee tracking, name tags, and fingerprinting process, etc.).
  • Maintains (organizes and updates) new hire files, tracks missing documents and communicates to school directors accordingly.
  • Assists with new-hire communication and setup for the Home Office.
  • Manages external recruitment events to optimize NHA representation and internal communication.
  • Assists with college, community and in-house career fairs representing New Horizon Academy.
  • Provides assistance to the Benefits Team and Talent Acquisition Team as needed.
  • Provides backup reception desk coverage as needed (breaks, lunches, vacations, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to produce professional communications, proofread, and edit documents for conciseness and accuracy.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Associate degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative role (preferably supporting HR).
  • Must be adaptable to various competing priorities.
  • Must be a self-starter and takes the initiative to improve processes.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Experience in the childcare industry.
