DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the HRIS data entry process within the guidelines of department policies and procedures, labor and tax laws, and supervisory instructions. Assists in the recruiting process and maintenance of specifications in recruiting system. Adheres to Augusta-Richmond County Personnel Policy and Procedures, federal, state and local employment laws, and applicable codes. Reports to the Employment Manager or other designated person and works with co-workers, employees, managerial staff, technical schools and colleges, and the public to assist in employment matters and ensure accurate information.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains Human Resources Information System (HRIS): creates new positions; inputs all new hire information and approved departmental personnel actions, such as: promotions, separations, transfers, reclassifications, salary changes, etc.
  • Enters all new hire information into the HRIS.
  • Works collaboratively with the payroll and information technology departments to ensure accuracy of all employee data in HRIS and timekeeping system.
  • Actively recruits new employees: attends job fairs, advertises vacant positions utilizing the automated recruitment system, tracks applicants, refers qualified job applicants to managers for interviews, and assists in interviewing candidates as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, or High School Diploma based on experience.

Experience: Bachelor’s Degree with no experience required; Associates Degree with three (3) years, or High School Diploma with five (5) years of experience working in Human Resources.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of applicant tracking system including candidate application tracking, interviewing, and candidate selection.
  • Considerable knowledge of HRIS Systems.
  • Familiarity with federal, state laws, local ordinances related to employment practices and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Considerable knowledge of interactive, computerized HRIS, and financial management system.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized.
  • Strong time management and customer service skills.

  • Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership, and to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to resolve problems.
  • Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
  • Physical Abilities: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
  • Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
  • Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

This position requires some travel from office to other locations.
