Position Summary
The HSE and Continuous Improvement Coordinator will be responsible for deployment, implementation, and maintenance for all health, safety, and environment (HSE) functional activities and risk management programs and the deployment and implementation of process improvements focused on products, processes, systems, and operations based on the LISI Excellence Achievement Program (LEAP).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Works on all HSE functional activities, workers compensation, and risk management programs.
Promote compliance, identify violations/risks, and adhere to all workplace HSE rules and regulations.
Plan, review, and implements HSE policies and programs.
Obtains, maintains, and ensures compliance with IATF 16949/ISO, OSHA, county, state, and federal environmental related approvals, permits, plans, registrations; and routine or periodic reporting related to air, EPA, waste, water, etc.
Monitor and report all HSE performance and compliance statistics, assist with establishing direction with the Business Leaders to establish and achieve annual goals and the HSE roadmap to achieve Best in Class performance.
Manage compliance and administrative maintenance with all environmental permits, regulations, plans and programs.
Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Safety Reviews, and ensure all contractors meet LAHV safety standards.
Train, advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
Conduct risk management assessments and enforce preventative safety measures.
Build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of staff and vendors.
Lead the execution of 5S and 8D structured problem solving on all incidents.
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
Lead the Safety Committee, in-house First Aid Teams, and Fire Service support team, as well as act as liaison to local fire and medical providers, scheduling meetings and drills and ensuring positive community relations.
Keeps abreast of pending regulatory developments through reference sources; obtains insight on legislative agendas at state and federal levels; and attend trainings, certifications, and outside meetings as needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned, instructed, or directed.
Continuous Improvement, LISI Excellence Achievement Program (LEAP):
Continuously identify and implement process improvements by working as part of the team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and carry out process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality (IATF 16949/ISO) standards, company and customer requirements.
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
Interface cross-functionally with various departments to integrate, manage, promote, and execute the corporate standards of LEAP operational excellence consistently and timely.
Build and execute the program of LEAP tools development.
Organize requested trainings at all levels to ensure team members have the knowledge, tools, skills, and abilities to function efficiently and effectively at their assigned job functions.
Measure the efficiency of the program within production and efficiency indicators by performing audits participating in lean health checks and go/no goes.
Contribute to the execution of strategy plan of plant transformation to reach expected EBIT.
Stay up to date on latest manufacturing tools, tactics and techniques to incorporate with LEAP standards, which includes attending trainings and obtaining the necessary LEAP/continuous improvement professional credentials as needed.
Demonstrate performance excellence behaviors within the business and champion performance excellence.
Support the business in establishing “best practice” standards.
Process mapping, value stream mapping, identifying inefficiencies in productivity with a particular focus on layouts and sequencing.
Introduces new and more effective methods of manufacturing to the team on a regular basis.
Connect with other internal Division-wide LEAP team members as a resource.
Perform all other duties as assigned, instructed, or directed.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferably in safety management, lean process improvement, or manufacturing and five (5) years hands-on HSE and lean process improvement experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Working knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes. Proven experience with 5S and 8D. Six sigma certification preferred.
Experience in lean process improvement within a manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of HSE compliance regulations

Demonstrated effective organizational and analytical skills
Proven negotiation and contracting skills
Ability to continuously maintain necessary credentials and trainings
Ability to lead and teach all levels of staff on HSE and LEAP
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong leadership skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and an ERP system
