Housekeeper II- Floor Care Specialist

Location: Naval Health Clinic, Naval Station Newport

Schedule: M-F 3p-7p (20 hours total)

Position Summary:

The Housekeeper II- Floor Care Specialistperforms special cleaning projects as well as daily cleaning duties in accordance with housekeeping procedures. Uses cleaning equipment including automatic floor machines, commercial vacuums, wet mops, large wringers, and other necessary equipment, tools, chemicals, and supplies. Dry and wet-mop, scrub and buff floors with roto and other machines. Vacuum/shampoo carpets. Duties can include the removal of trash, cleaning of induction units, walls, lighting fixtures, and windows, both inside and out, moving furniture and other related duties as directed by Executive Housekeeper.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Training
· Completes and maintains all required State mandated trainings such as, Universal Precautions, CPR / First Aid, Signs & Symptoms of Illness & Injury and Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities, and Hospitals (BHDDH) CORE trainings within 90 days of employment;
· Attends meetings and training sessions as required by BHDDH and JLMC;

Daily Programing

* Responsible for receiving and carrying out the instructions and directions issued by the Executive Housekeeper or supervisor;

• Assures satisfactory completion of work assigned to self;

• Perform any other job related duties requested by management;

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming them with commercial vacuums, wet mops, large wringers and other necessary equipment, tools chemicals and supplies;

• Dry and wet mop, scrub and buff floors using roto and other machines;

• Vacuum and shampoo carpets using available machines, and chemicals;

• Gather and empty trash/recycling;

• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors;

• Clean/dust walls, furniture, partitions, white & caulk boards, handrails etc.;

• Stripping, coating and polishing floors;

• Other tasks typical of a janitor’s duties;

· Must maintain a professional appearance, arrive to work on time and be able to follow instructions from the Executive Housekeeper or designee;

· Works all assigned schedules, including but not limited to: arriving and departing on time,
requesting time off in advance, and notifying your supervisor of changes to your assigned work
schedule;

· Ensures each individuals’ rights are protected;
· Treats individuals with dignity and respect;

Communication
· Observes individuals for evidence of injury or bruises and evaluates for changes in emotional and physical status;
· Reports any noted problems to the Executive Housekeeper or Supervisor immediately and complete a written incident report form;
· Reports all medical related incidents to the Executive Housekeeper or Supervisor and the delegating nurse;
· Acts as a representative for James L. Maher Center in a professional manner when required, to families, service coordinators, State officials, community partners, local businesses, and employers;
· Represents James L. Maher Center in a professional manner to families, service coordinators,
State officials, and community partners when required;
· Maintains Participant’s’ confidentiality;

Teamwork
· Treats all individuals and coworkers and with dignity, respect, and fairness;
· Provides support to other team members when individuals are having behavioral issues;

Safety
· Assists individuals when entering and exiting vehicles while on community outings, as well as
entering and exiting the building safely;
· Reports unsafe conditions, environment, and equipment to the Executive Housekeeper;

· Follows safety protocols to foster a safe working environment;

All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Valid driver’s license
Ability to lift/push/pull 50lbs.

U.S. Government Background Investigation
A favorable National Criminal Background check along with OIG clearance

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Union Membership with Unite Here, Local 26- Union dues every pay period

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.02 per hour
