Performs selected nurse care under the direction of the registered nurse and general supervision of the client care manager.
JOB DUTIES/ KNOWLEDGE:
Provides skilled nursing care to clients as directed by the registered nurse and physician’s plan of care in accordance with agency policies.
Promotes and maintains client health through teaching and appropriate rehabilitative measures under the guidance of the registered nurse who is assigned to the same case.
Assists clients in learning appropriate self-care techniques.
Helps to achieve and maintain continuity of client care by assisting in planning and exchanging information with other health professionals.
Prepares clinical progress notes and follows client care pans as developed by the registered nurse and according to the agency policy.
Assist the physician and registered nurse in performing specialized procedures for which competency has been established.
Prepares equipment and materials for treatments observing aseptic technique as required.
Keeps abreast of changes and trends affecting nursing care and licensed nurse functions.
Attends client conferences, meet with the quality improvement reviewer weekly and communicate regularly with the registered nurse.
Communicates current health status and needs of client to appropriate health professionals.
Successful completion of a certified licensed practical/ vocational nursing program.
Licensed to practice as a practical/ vocational nurse in the state.
Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of clinical experience.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to and communicate with the pediatric population served by the agency, and to lesser degree the adult and geriatric populations served.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of pediatric growth and development.
Able to assess data reflecting the pediatric client’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each client’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
Six (6) months to one (1) year of previous pediatric nursing experience preferred; minimum of pediatric training course documented with the successful completion of a pediatric competency assessment.
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License
