Direct Support Professionals inResidential assist the people we support in developing personal relationships, having a positive role in the community, increasing independence and helping them develop the skills and abilities needed to achieve their goals.

The Arc Greater Hudson Valley, NY is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to providing support and services to over 1,800 people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and to their families in Sullivan,Dutchess and Orange Counties, New York. A chapter of The Arc New York, our main offices are located at 162 East Broadway in Monticello, NY.

Our agency offers a broad range of services including Residential Services, Clinical Services, Day Services, Family Support Services, Guardianship Services, Children Education Services, Employment Services, Recreation and more. Our mission is to support people with unique abilities to live as valued and contributing members of the community.

Our dedicated team is still interviewing, hiring and conducting orientation, despite COVID-19. We are following all safety guidelines, providing Personal Protective Equipment to all staff, and sanitizing all locations thoroughly. We are currently conducting phone and/or virtual interviews.

Schedule: Shifts vary, Full-time and Relief positions available. Must be available holidays and weekends.

Direct Support Professional Responsibilities:

• Providing individualized support to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
• Assisting people served in completion of activities of daily living (ADL’s)
• Assisting in the bathroom, assisting with eating, etc.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment
• Administering medication
• Transportation with the use of agency vehicles

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be able to lift/push/pull a minimum of 50 lbs. multiple times per day
• Must be comfortable with assisting residents with hygiene and medical routines
• All positions require a valid, clean NYS driver’s license with a minimum of one year (1) driving experience with a Class D license
• Ability to work on holidays and during inclement weather

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with intellectual and/or developmentally disabled population
