The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a
Heavy Equipment Mechanic to work at our
Whitesville Mill Services location in
Crawfordsville, IN . The Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs all functions pertaining to the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty off-road construction equipment.
Day shift, 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Monday - Friday, On-call rotation to cover night shift and weekend
Great Pay: Starting at $23.00/HR - based on experience and skill level

Responsibilities
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Perform pre and post-operation inspections of mobile equipment
- Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose defects and malfunctions
- Comply with all safety regulations, policies, and record-keeping
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment to gain access to areas of concern
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical systems
- Change oil, check and change batteries, and perform complete lubrication tasks on equipment and machinery
- Replaces malfunctioning subassemblies and components (e.g. transmissions, differentials, and engines)
- Perform preventative maintenance including, but not limited to, fluid and filter changes, oil sampling, and lubrication
- Complete maintenance checklist and test repaired equipment to ensure accurate completion of repair
- Make recommendations for equipment to be repaired by outside sources
- Requisition parts and equipment and maintain records and reporting
- Maintain work area to allow safe movement and access
- Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions
- Meet customer service expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
The ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of off-road heavy equipment
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, braking systems, electrical systems, drivelines, steering mechanisms, and suspensions
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, climb or crawl under or on top of equipment
- Ability to manipulate components in hard to reach places with hands or tools
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
