The Home Health & Hospice Health Information Tech I is responsible for the quantitative analysis of all medical record patient types based upon standards established by Title 22, the Joint Commission and the Medical Staff Rules and Regulations.


Required Skills

  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical records and medical record documents.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of deficiency analysis of medical records.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of computer keyboard and a typing speed of 35 wpm. Familiarity with computers and basic windows and mouse skills is preferred.
  • Able to understand and follow directions.
  • Remain focused on the task at hand without getting easily distracted.
  • Capable of categorizing forms/documents within the medical record.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • High level of professionalism is needed for interaction with physicians and physician office staff.
  • Self-motivated.

Required Experience

Required:

  • Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field
  • Knowledge of ICD10
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Valid California driver’s license and car insurance

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Hybrid medical records
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Legal and Ethical Management of protected health information
  • Previous medical record department or medical office experience, especially in the area of discharge analysis or record completion
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate
