Analyzes and responds to requests for patient medical information, ensuring adherence to confidentiality requirements. Assembles and maintains complete medical records, files and retrieves patient records, and updates and closes files according to established procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Pulls, delivers and electronically tracks medical records for scheduled appointments, triage and as requested by the clinical staff.
  • Use the chart locator in the computer system to locate charts. Deliver charts as needed to departments.
  • Returns and electronically tracks all medical records to shelves in terminal digit order at the end of each session.
  • Sorts all loose medical reports that arrive in the medical record department, files them in the appropriate record folder according to the "chart format" procedure.
  • Assures all lab slips and x-rays are initialed by the provider before filing in the medical records; also checks the name and date of birth to assure that it is filled in the correct patient's chart.

Qualifications:

  • Medical record experiences which include appropriate training in release of information preferred.
  • Analytical abilities and good judgment necessary to evaluate, often under pressure, the legal rights of requesting parties.
  • Basic computer skills preferred including working with windows and using a mouse.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to read/write/speak English required.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or completion of a GED program required.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 830am-5pm, Tuesday and Thursday 1130am-8pm
40 hours per week
