Responsibilities:
In this role as a Health and Fitness Specialist they will ensure that the function of work stations, equipment and facilities provide the best levels of efficiency, comfort and health and safety for employees. Facilitate appropriate evaluation of employee job requirements and various health and fitness-related programs. May also be asked to assist with additional periodic Occupational Medicine functions within the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations of employee work stations to include assessment of equipment, work space set up and employee body mechanics.
  • Identify and correct faulty movement patterns that result from poor ergonomic set up, poor body posture or faulty equipment.
  • Provide recommendations for change to improve ergonomic set up and body posture and mechanics.
  • Identify injury risk when observed in the workforce.
  • Identify, measure and record physical demands of an employee’s job requirement to include measurements of force, bend/reach, kneeling/squatting, overhead, low level work, etc.
  • Write ergonomic reports detailing findings of all assessments to include risks identified, interventions planned and equipment modifications.
  • Work with other health and fitness professionals to schedule assessments and monitoring of all positions at the NNSS.
  • Review data gathered through evaluation to assess effectiveness of ergonomics program and identify jobs and tasks that have high risk of injury.
  • Assist with functional testing of job demands.
  • Maintain all required training and certifications.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating computers, printers, reproduction equipment, calculators and facsimiles as assigned in support of normal job duties.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or related field or equivalent training and experience. Preferred experience in personal/group fitness training, ergonomics, functional movement, or a combination of all.
  • Ergonomics certification is desired; must obtain upon hiring if uncertified.
  • Fitness certification is desired.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of human anatomy and kinetics.
  • Ability to identify faulty movement patterns and create plans and modifications.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be adept at problem solving and have the ability to apply knowledge to create solutions and correct faulty movement patterns or equipment usage.
  • Able to communicate with all types of people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner.
  • Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘ Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘ Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Annual salary range for this position is $28.75 - $43.13.

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
