1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the vast majority do not get the care they need. The primary reason is cost: the majority of therapists do not accept insurance, meaning paying for therapy is prohibitively expensive for prospective patients. This is where we got our start – Headway has built the first software-enabled network of therapists who accept health insurance, making it easy for therapists to grow their practices, and possible for patients to find quality care they can afford.
We launched in April of 2019 and are now powering 300,000+ appointments per month. To scale our vision, we’ve raised over $100 million in funding from a16z, Thrive, Accel, and Google Ventures.

Headway is growing fast, and we’re looking for our first Head of Strategic Finance! The Strategic Finance function is central to key decision making at Headway. We have tremendous growth opportunities ahead of us, with ambitious plans to deliver on our mission to rewiring mental healthcare for access and affordability. Reporting to our CFO and collaborating closely with the executive team, you’ll drive our financial model and shape our growth trajectory.
You will:
- Build, improve and and maintain the company model, linking key actions and inputs to company growth and profitability
- Run the complete budget cycle, from budgeting and planning to decision making on spending and variance analysis
- Work with the company executives to steer financial analyses around key decisions
- Investigate M&A opportunities
- Support Board and investor communication and diligence
- Build and foster a high-performing Finance team to support your org’s key objectives
