About the role:

We are looking for a dynamic Head of Workplace and Real Estate to lead our global workplace team and manage all aspects of our global real estate portfolio. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will provide a single point of accountability for all real estate activities, improve operations and realize cost savings with responsibility to a budgeted plan, and lead the safety and security team that helps support the wellbeing of Samsarians across the globe. We are looking for a strategic leader to work with Samsara's executive team to provide partnership across all workplace, real estate, and safety related initiatives.

In this role, you will:

  • Be the primary executive point of contact to Samsara's leadership team on all workplace, safety and security, and real estate issues.
  • Manage real estate capital spend, workplace operating budget, and set and deliver on annual budgets.
  • Manage and oversee all global real estate activities, including strategic planning, vendor management, purchasing, budgeting, programming, site selection, financial analysis, transaction negotiations, project delivery and workplace services.
  • Develop and implement innovative real estate strategies by country and region to best align with employee experience and budget.
  • Lead our workplace operations team that is responsible for providing full support and partnership to our hybrid workforce.
  • Conduct ongoing workplace assessments to select and resource projects that will best support our hybrid workforce.
  • Lead our safety and security team that is responsible for supporting the health and wellbeing of our global workforce.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by aligning real estate strategy and evolution with business strategies, products, and people.
  • Partner with our workplace program management team to implement projects and processes that better track workplace budgets and employee experience initiatives.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
  • Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 15+ years experience in Workplace and Real Estate, preferably in companies that have seen growth from 2000+ employees.
  • Proven track record of developing, executing, and managing real estate and workplace strategies that meet corporate objectives and budget.
  • Demonstrable understanding of organizational best practices and how space impacts employee experience.
  • Ability to successfully present complex financial and organizational analyses to an executive team.
  • Ability to act as an organization-wide change agent, communicating effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Deep understanding of real estate related processes: strategic sourcing, supply chain management, human capital management, facilities management, location management, lease transaction management, design, construction, and project management.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from design phase through to implementation.
  • Ability to collaborate with global executive leaders across the organization to ensure that the long-term strategy of the organization is being achieved through leveraging our space and resources.
  • Strong business acumen, organizational skills, analytical skills and written communication style.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Engineering, Finance, Business Administration or Real Estate Management preferred.
