The selected individual will directly support the Warfighter by COMSEC and engineering solutions in collaboration with commercial vendors, DoD acquisition offices, and other CSS support organizations. As such, the selectee will act as the focal point of all security related interactions through close collaboration with a variety of CSS organizations and external partners including senior military and civilian leaders.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Manage program deliverables and milestones throughout the development process; track Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) delivered items and coordinate comments.
  • Team with security evaluators to evaluate and tailor security requirements to the specific program(s) (determine if a requirement is applicable to the program)
  • Assist in defining and selecting cryptographic algorithms and specifications for specific products and completing Cryptographic Algorithm Configuration Management Board (CACMB) submissions for implementation
  • Perform analysis of Contract Data deliverables; provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for requirements compliance\inclusion, good CSS practices and guidance, and vulnerability analysis of product designs along with other CSS SMEs.
  • Support\ Witness security requirements verification testing at vendor sites; identify and approve testing strategies and identify additional tests as needed; coordinate test plans, procedures and reports, and verify compliance with CSS requirements.
  • Assist security evaluators with prototype engineering, system security designs, system security testing, and system security design analysis of Edge certification solutions
  • Team with software experts to assess Software Analysis vulnerabilities and adjudications through analysis and participation in comment resolution discussions with vendors and DoD program offices.
  • Support Critical Design, system requirements, programmatic, and technical reviews. Provide IA guidance during technical interchange meetings with vendor and Program Management Offices and identify IA issues with the design.
  • Draft device Operational Security Doctrine to formally describe handling procedures for sensitive cryptographic items.
  • Create and brief technical details of program designs to senior managers and the Risk Assessment Panel members.
  • Create certification packages to include the Memorandum for the Record (MR), Staff Processing Form (SPF), certificates, and external letters for review and signature by the Deputy National Manager for National Security Systems.
  • Comply with NSA policies, standards, guidelines as they apply to certification of products.


You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Experience in information system security engineering or system security design is essential.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate design documentation and produce formal and informal reports that clearly articulate the results of a customer's solution specification or solution implementation review.
  • Experience with problem solving that focuses on creative and innovative ways to achieve solutions.
  • Systems development life cycle experience (e.g., system design, interface specification, quality assurance, requirements gathering, deployment).
  • Experience participating on a team system development activity.
  • Experience in system testing and analysis, and the software engineering process is helpful.


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, Information Assurance, or Networking and Telecommunications is preferred
