POSITION SUMMARY: Gym Monitor will secure gymnasium and all programs, events, and guests. Enforces all YMCA policies and procedures and safety of building and all occupants inside. Responsible for monitoring and assisting members throughout the gymnasium, promoting and connecting members to y programs, services, and events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Check In members, Nationwide members and guests via the current check in method.

• Ensure everyone entering the gym is aware of the posted gym rules.

• Introduce yourself by name and ask each participant their name.

• Ensure that all gym participants know that you are there for any questions or concerns.

• Explain the rules of play to each participant: For example, Gym B is currently open for shooting. Gym A is set up for pick up games at the moment. If you would like to play, please add your name to the Got Next Board.

• Notify all participants where they can find the gym schedule for that day and future days. Inform them of any programs that will be occurring during your shift.

• Ensure Gym stays within capacity limits.

• Maintain a clean and healthy environment by wiping down bleachers, filling sanitization stations and ensuring there is no trash left behind.

• Receives and carries out all instructions, special projects, and other duties as assigned by the Coordinator or other Directors; reads emails daily.

• Responsible for responding to various situations in order to ensure safety for participants and spectators.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Trainings (within 90 days of hire): New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Detection and Prevention, CPR, AED and First Aid Certification, Universal Precautions Training. All training and certifications are available through the Portage Township YMCA. Must keep all certifications current throughout employment.
