Job Summary


The Gwinnett Entrepreneur Center Specialist (GEC) performs a variety of administrative and programmatic functions related to the operation of the Center. Duties include evaluating situations and providing information and guidance to individuals contacting the center, managing the center's operational and logistical elements, functioning as the subject matter expert on the digital platforms and performing a variety of project and administrative functions.

Additionally, the Specialist utilizes knowledge of business start-ups and entrepreneurship to interact with member businesses, service providers, external stakeholders, and community members.

The position requires engagement with students for selection, management and evaluation of their internship programs. Also, included is the interaction with student entrepreneurs related to participation in intensive programing that supports early-stage start-ups.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day operational and logistical elements of the GEC in order to provide entrepreneurs with appropriately allocated space, time allotments and material resources; participates in strategic planning and goal setting for the Center
  • Interacts with visiting entrepreneurs and small business owners seeking professional guidance and resources to start and grow their business ventures; utilizes knowledge of business development and associated life cycle processes to determine the nature of consultation the entity would benefit most from; provides insights and recommendations, refers to external resources and organizations and engages GGC resources when appropriate; manages, screens and confirms consultation requests and appointments for aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners with the Center Manager
  • Coordinates and facilitates peer-to-peer discussion groups; advises individuals requiring follow-up on program assignments
  • Partners with the Center Manager to provide assistance to Center members on a variety of topics from building use to business assistance
  • Functions as a subject matter expert in the use of unique GEC software and space management platforms; provides Center members with guidance in their use; generates usage reports
  • Oversees the procurement and maintenance of materials and supplies for the operation of the Center
  • Designs job descriptions for GEC student interns; posts position opportunities and coordinates the selection process; partners with GEC leadership to select student interns; schedules and assigns work to interns; evaluates interns' performance; provides guidance to Center members on the creation of student roles within their businesses
  • Attends community events associated with the business community representing the GEC; delivers basic presentations, answers questions and generally markets the program; partners with the Center manager to conduct speaker research, materials development, program execution and promotion
  • Updates and maintains Center member progress and plans for program completion; performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and three, or more, years of experience which provided familiarity with business start-ups, resources to new businesses and the challenges new businesses face; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in event planning and execution
  • Experience in building relationships and interacting with various levels of clients and stakeholders
