The Part-Time Guest Experience Associate will be responsible for managing tasks and duties relating to the guest’s experience. This includes membership support, data entry, and servicing guests of the Detroit Zoological Society.
The Guest Experience Associate will support, both publicly and privately, the principles of the Detroit Zoological Society. They will support and enhance a clean, safe, enjoyable and educational experience at the Detroit Zoo by actively engaging in the enforcement of superior customer service standards. They will be well versed in the understanding of animal welfare, community relations and park appearance guidelines. All safety and security policies will be followed. The Guest Experience Associate will maintain a professional manner when dealing with all constituencies and always preserve a high level of integrity, competence, and confidentiality.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Expected to respond to customer phone calls and walk-ins in a timely fashion
  • Will require a guest focused attitude that looks to uncover needs and provide solutions
  • Must be familiar with all facets of the zoo in order to answer questions properly
  • Greet guests with enthusiasm and provide information to enhance each visit
  • Contribute to a positive, high energy, entertaining experience and atmosphere
  • Responsible for accurate data entry and membership support
  • Maintain superior integrity of data, security, and banking systems including; Gateway and MIMO
  • Responsible for ongoing database maintenance including updating or creating member records to ensure accurate information
  • Responsible for completing necessary paperwork clearly and accurately
  • Provide general information about group and education activities
  • Participate in DZS activities and events as required
  • All other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be able to use a computer, printer, radio, scanner, and telephone
  • Expected to communicate with employees and visitors
  • Knowledge of advanced math and accounting principles
  • Must be reasonable, diplomatic and use common sense to make sound decisions
  • Must have the ability to think quickly and identify solutions to customer service issues
  • Must be professional and have a positive, friendly, social disposition
Preferred
  • Galaxy, Excel and PowerPoint experience preferred
Working Conditions
Flexible schedule that will include weekends and occasional evenings, early-mornings, and holidays.
The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to seasonal weather conditions.

Physical Requirements
This position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping for extended periods, the ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds and the use of standard office equipment and the computer.
