Growth Officer, Ambulatory/Outpatient Services


The Growth Officer directs business development of service lines and key economic drivers of the organization. The Growth Officer is responsible for developing relationships with centers of influence for VHC Health growth. They are responsible for implementing comprehensive service line business development, growth and marketing plans designed to enhance the system’s core businesses and increase market share specifically in key strategic service lines. The Growth leader will report directly to the VP, Business Development and will also work directly with key operational leaders within VHC Health. The business development leader will collaborate with executive leaders, department directors, medical staff, external organizations, partners and the community to design and provide service enhancements, new business, program development and community/patient engagement initiatives that increase revenue and market share at VHC Health. This individual will have direct accountability for service line growth and performance, competitive intelligence, and will be instrumental in the implementation of strategic development projects.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communication or in a related field is required with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years or progressive experience in healthcare (or a relevant industry), with responsibilities and exposure to planning, marketing, contracting, community relations and/or finance.
  • Experience in working with senior management to align marketing & growth strategies and solutions.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and a proven track record of successfully growing new business through service or product growth.
  • Experience B2B, B2C, and sales growth channels. Preferably with connections and relationships with leaders in healthcare.
  • Experience building and managing outreach pipelines.
  • Familiarity with planning resources, market trends, database management and decision support systems are also required.
  • Experience negotiating on behalf of organization.
  • Must be a self-starter, ability to persuade, and advanced ability to identify verbal and nonverbal cues.
  • Able to manage complex priorities with tight deadlines.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, business acumen and personal resilience to work well in a team culture; comfort and credibility in challenging discussions with senior colleagues with an approach that balances robustness, persistence, tenacity, humility, and tact.
  • Must have the ability and confidence to effectively function independently, possess high energy, be a team player and be an ambassador for the organization.
  • Must have the ability to effectively present to internal and external groups at a high level representing the leadership of the organization.

  • Advanced reasoning, analysis, language ability (reading, writing and speaking).
  • Other required skills –strategic thinking, problem solving/analysis, financial management, creativity,customer focus and communication proficiency.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for managing the process of identifying, evaluating and proposing new strategic business opportunities working in partnership with Hospital executives, service line leaders and physician leadership.
  • Responsible for developing strategies to initiate and/or take advantage of new/emerging business opportunities that engender and support positive financial returns, and timeliness (speed to market) in execution of targeted priorities.
  • Primarily responsible for proactively generating and promoting new business opportunities and products/services for Virginia Hospital Center Health System in support of strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for developing business plans for strategic opportunities, completing detailed duediligence on new technologies, competition and service line projected performance.
  • Evaluates operational issues to determine how competitive and current it is with the latest trends in the industry.
  • Monitors external and internal environment for development of new market segments.
  • Develops marketing/communication campaigns for new products and services. This includes working with operational leads to develop specific budgets and implementation plans.
  • Responsible for the overall management of strategic and operational marketing, communication and reputation management activities supporting select service lines.
  • Furnishes marketing/communication advice, counsel and general staff support to all departments within the organization.
  • Performs public speaking to volunteer organizations and committees regarding public relations,marketing and business development of the Hospital.
  • Assists, as needed, in planning of any event that highlights Hospital’s services.
  • Assists, as needed, in developing an evaluation process to gain feedback from constituents [patients/consumers].
