Our Product Managers stand at the leading edge of this disruption, and are responsible for guiding new products at Apex.

Apex’s Product Managers combine financial industry research and knowledge with our technical expertise to develop leading product strategies. An example of this would be performing market analysis to identify a product gap, then working with SMEs and engineering to deliver a seamless solution to our customers. Responsibilities:

Define, own and deliver the next generation of Apex Clearing’s Trading Technology stack and tools to support Apex Clearing execution capabilities and value proposition to clients and prospects.

  • Drive prioritization and requirements definition for strategic initiatives and product priorities to deliver key business outcomes.
  • Oversees multiple product management processes, establishes priorities, and coordinates with teams to create schedules throughout the product life cycle.
  • Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and clients
  • Translate business and client needs into development requirements
  • Prioritize requests to drive growth and maximize profitability
  • Work collaboratively with various internal and external teams to resolve dependencies..
  • Interact with clients to validate demand and verify the accuracy of the planned workflows
  • Promote adoption of the completed product and provide training tools/documentation to drive successful use
  • Understand and manage trading tech vendor relationships.
  • Constantly collaborates with other departments to build trust and understanding.
  • Facilitate hiring as well as mentorship, growth and career development of your team members.
  • Position requires 30%+ time for travel. (We’re a distributed company.)

The skills you’ll need to succeed:

  • 10+ years of market expertise (ideally some in product management) with demonstrable knowledge of trading workflows, market structure and networking standards
  • Experience with trading and brokerage compliance regimes, including Risk Management and Consolidated Audit Trail (CAT) reporting
  • Basic understanding of post trade processes including, settlement operations and trade reporting.
  • Demonstrated success in leading large cross-functional product development teams through complex enterprise initiatives; SaaS / Cloud Architecture, API platform, Legacy app consolidation, etc.
  • Understanding of FIX protocol, web development, and Agile practices, with a strong preference for incremental delivery. Understanding of REST API development is a plus.
  • You are organized and are comfortable overseeing multiple work streams, ensuring that your team can stay focused on enabling great experiences.
  • Strong ability to listen, but also to question assumptions.
  • Ability to make decisions with imperfect information, lead without authority and be comfortable managing a team through chaos, ambiguity and complexity.
  • Have the ability to multi-task, be proactive and demonstrate ownership /initiative
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross functional teams and third parties
  • Experience presenting execution capabilities to heads of trading and C-level associates.
  • Possess excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Comfortable using collaboration tools such as Slack, JIRA, Confluence, etc.

What you’ll do all day:

  • Define and Align Apex product strategy and vision. Apex’s edge is its technology products. And as a GPM, you’ll be responsible for managing your groups roadmap and ensuring strong alignment to Apex Clearing strategic goals, as well as managing consensus around the organization.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership. At Apex, the product team is tightly aligned to engineering. You and your product managers will execute their roadmaps in partnership with committed engineering teams, and you will partner with peer leaders to optimize and adjust our structure to ensure success.
  • Coordinate and optimize your team. You will regularly step back and look at the bigger picture to optimize processes and improve team performance. An important part of the job is also to unblock and resolve any impediments on forward progress.
  • Make Progress and impact.You help ensure we keep making decisions and move forward. This means being solutions oriented and prioritizing progress over correctness when it's the right call.
